Welcome to the OREGON PRISON ART website.
The purpose of this website is to give the public access to some of the extraordinary work that is currently being produced in Oregon State Prisons, and also to give the inmate-artists a chance to express themselves to the larger community. Here you will find reports on EXHIBITS of prison art which have been presented all around the the state (including “TIME” – A STATEWIDE TRAVELING SHOW OF OREGON PRISON ART -which has traveled to ten different venues in 2011); LINKS to various organizations which work with artists in the prisons; and a GALLERY OF ARTISTS where you will see works by an ever growing roster of men and women who are using the TIME they are serving as an opportunity to produce some very amazing paintings, drawings, and three-dimensional crafted items.
There is tremendous talent hidden behind prison bars. Welcome to this visible manifestation of our culture’s invisible people.
