Dirk Davenport was one of the original artists in the “Native American Art Empowers INVISIBLE PEOPLE show put together by RED LODGE TRANSITION SERVICES, where his pencil drawing “GRANDMOTHER MOON” was one of the favorites in the show. He was invited to be in the “OREGON PRISON ART” show at the Coos Art Museum and created these two works for that show. In addition to being a very fine artist, Davenport is very interested in spirituality, and has used his prison time to study the world’s great religions and philosophies. His works often have spiritual meaning, as all three of these works show. He is currently writing a book exploring his beliefs.
