Steven grew up in the Coos Bay area and working in logging related work. He had never drawn before being sentenced to prison time. His mom sent him some photos from an old Harpers magazine about people in Bulgaria and he began with the piece entitled “GRACE” which won first prize in the graphite pencil division in the Department of Corrections Annual Show for 2009. His works continue to win prizes, and his work was selected to be included in the “FINELY WROUGHT” show in the summer of 2010 at the Southern Coos Hospital & Health Center, where he shared the space with three well-known professional artists from around the state. He is currently at O.S.P. in Salem, where he was selected to work in the hobby shop, where he will be able to explore new mediums, such as pastels and acrylics. His subjects include dogs and horses, elk and wildlife, as well as people. Very fine top quality giclee prints of his work (as well as originals) are available.
